TERMS OF USE

AskThere Terms of Use

Last updated: September 4, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of AskThere. You must accept these Terms before using AskThere. By accepting these Terms, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not accept these Terms or use the service.

1. Purpose of AskThere

The purpose of AskThere is to help a person who is seeking an answer to a specific local question.

AskThere connects people seeking practical information about a city with people who know that city. Information shown to a helper is provided solely so that the helper can respond to the relevant question in a useful and good-faith manner. It must not be used for unrelated purposes.

2. How AskThere works

An asker selects predefined local questions and may provide limited context about a plan, such as the destination, purpose, stage, budget or duration.

AskThere may match an individual question with a helper whose selected city and topics are relevant. A helper receives one focused Help Card at a time and may submit an answer based on their own knowledge or experience.

After submitting an answer, a helper may in some circumstances choose to add a separate local recommendation.

3. Eligibility and age

AskThere is intended only for users aged 18 or older.

By using AskThere, you represent that you are legally able to use the service and to agree to these Terms.

4. Anonymous accounts

AskThere currently uses anonymous accounts and does not require a conventional name-and-password registration process.

You are responsible for activity carried out through your AskThere account or session and for using the service in accordance with these Terms.

5. Asking questions

Askers must use AskThere for genuine local-information requests and must not use plans, questions, reports, blocking tools or any other part of the service to harass, deceive, threaten, exploit, target or harm another person.

AskThere does not guarantee that a question will be matched, answered, answered within a particular period, or receive any specific number or quality of responses.

6. Helping others

Helpers should answer only when they have relevant knowledge or experience and should make a reasonable effort to provide information that is useful, current and given in good faith.

A helper must not knowingly present false, fabricated or materially misleading information as fact.

7. Helper conduct and prohibited behaviour

A helper must not use AskThere, an answer, a recommendation, or information received through a Help Card to pressure, manipulate, harass, intimidate, threaten, blackmail, extort, deceive, defraud, stalk, shame, discriminate against, exploit or otherwise harm another person.

Without limitation, helpers must not:

  • seek money, property, favours, services or other benefits through threats, coercion, deception or exploitation;
  • exploit a user's personal circumstances, vulnerability, unfamiliarity with a city or dependence on local information;
  • request, expose, misuse or attempt to obtain unnecessary private, confidential or identifying information;
  • impersonate another person or falsely claim professional, official, governmental, institutional or other authority;
  • use information received through AskThere for stalking, retaliation, harassment, discrimination, fraud or any unlawful or harmful purpose;
  • send spam, unrelated promotions or other content unrelated to the question being answered.

8. User content and responsibility

Answers, recommendations and other user-submitted material are provided by users, not by AskThere.

You are responsible for the content you submit and must have the right to submit it. You must not submit content that violates these Terms, applicable law or the rights of another person.

9. AskThere does not verify user answers

AskThere does not author, approve, certify, investigate, verify, guarantee, endorse or adopt user answers or recommendations.

An answer may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, subjective, unavailable, unsuitable for your circumstances or wrong.

10. Independent verification and user decisions

You are responsible for evaluating and independently verifying information before relying on it or acting on it.

Decisions you make based on an answer, recommendation or other information obtained through AskThere remain your responsibility.

11. Prices, costs, value and availability

Any price, cost, fee, value, budget estimate, opening time, availability, eligibility condition, product or service detail, transport information, accommodation information or other practical detail supplied by a user may change or may be inaccurate.

AskThere does not guarantee the price, cost, value, quality, legality, safety, availability, suitability or continued existence of any place, product, service, business, accommodation, transport option or other item mentioned by a user.

12. Local recommendations and own businesses

A recommendation is user-generated content and is not an endorsement by AskThere.

A helper may recommend their own business or professional activity when it is genuinely relevant. The recommendation must remain separate from the answer and the helper must identify their connection to that business or activity.

A helper's business, employment or professional connection does not create any partnership, agency, employment, sponsorship or endorsement relationship with AskThere.

13. No professional or official advice

AskThere is a local-information service. Content provided through AskThere is not legal, financial, medical, immigration, tax, safety, professional, governmental or other official advice.

Where a decision requires professional, regulated or official guidance, you should consult an appropriately qualified or authorised source.

14. Third-party transactions

AskThere is not a party to transactions, bookings, purchases, agreements or other dealings between users and any person, business or third party mentioned through the service.

You are responsible for deciding whether to contact, visit, buy from, hire, book with or otherwise deal with a third party and for reviewing the terms, safety, suitability and legitimacy of that transaction.

15. Prohibited content and misuse

You must not submit or use AskThere to distribute content that is unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, coercive, abusive, defamatory, discriminatory, exploitative, deliberately deceptive, invasive of privacy, infringing of another person's rights, or otherwise intended to facilitate harm.

You must not attempt to interfere with the service, evade safety or moderation measures, gain unauthorised access, manipulate matching, abuse reporting or blocking functions, or use AskThere for purposes materially unrelated to its intended local-information function.

16. Reporting, blocking and moderation

AskThere may provide tools to report content and block other users.

AskThere may review reports and may remove, restrict or take other action concerning content or access to the service when reasonably considered necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, protect the service, comply with law or address misuse.

AskThere is not required to retain, publish or continue displaying any particular user content.

17. Helpers and askers are independent users

Helpers and askers are independent users of the service.

They are not employees, agents, representatives, partners or contractors of AskThere merely because they use the service, answer questions or provide recommendations.

18. Who operates AskThere

AskThere is operated by Haydar Ali Ahmad.

19. Licence for user content

By submitting content to AskThere, you grant AskThere a non-exclusive licence to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit and otherwise use that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, provide, protect and maintain the service and make the content available through the intended AskThere functionality.

You retain any ownership rights you may have in your content.

20. Google Maps Platform

AskThere uses Google Maps Platform for city-search functionality. Your use of that functionality may also be subject to applicable Google Maps Platform terms and Google privacy practices.

21. Account deletion

AskThere provides a Delete Account function within the app.

Account deletion is permanent and may result in associated answers, recommendations and other account-linked service data no longer being available through AskThere.

22. Service availability and changes

AskThere may change, suspend, restrict or discontinue all or part of the service where reasonably necessary.

AskThere does not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free or continuously available operation.

23. AskThere intellectual property

AskThere's name, branding, design, software, interface and other service materials, excluding user content and third-party materials, are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights.

These Terms do not grant you ownership of AskThere or a right to copy, reproduce or exploit the service except as necessary for ordinary permitted use.

24. Privacy

AskThere's handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy.

25. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AskThere is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties or guarantees that the service, a match, an answer, a recommendation or any information provided by a user will be accurate, complete, current, suitable, safe, lawful, available or fit for a particular purpose.

26. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AskThere and its operator will not be liable for losses, damages, costs, claims or consequences arising from or relating to reliance on user-generated answers or recommendations; decisions made using such information; inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information; prices, costs, values or availability; dealings with third parties; acts or omissions of users or businesses; or interruption or unavailability of the service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

27. Mandatory rights

Nothing in these Terms removes, restricts or overrides any consumer, privacy or other statutory right that applicable law does not permit you to waive.

28. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated when AskThere's functionality, legal obligations or operating practices materially change.

The revision date at the top of this page indicates when these Terms were last updated. Where applicable law requires additional notice or consent for a change, AskThere will provide it as required.
